2001 Excursion Tow Hook removal

Hello All!

I have a 2001 Excursion and purchased a "bolt" on Brush Guard. The brackets bolt on where the tow hooks are currently bolted on then the tow hooks get bolted to the new brackets and so on.

My problem: Covering the tow hook bolts is a steel plate. I can get the two bolts in the front of the plate but there are two under it and two on top which you can see right above the bumper (you can see but not get to) My Question: How do I get that plate off - there is one on each side and I want to get this brush guard (30 minute install) HA-HA on ASAP.

Thanks everyone! ~Rob

I got good news and bad news for you. You have to get at the bolts from behind. The bad news, you have to start by removing the engine. The good news, you don't have to remove the tranny. <G>

Got the brush guard and push bar on this morning / afternoon. If anyone has a 2000-2001 HD the easiest way is to remove the bumper - don't try to work around it and such - just unbolt and sit off to the side...

Thanks all!
