Kia Rio Cinco (RX-V)

So......

After doing much research, I've decided not to buy a Kia Rio RX-V (Cinco).

Not one review I've read had much good to say about the car, its based on the Ford Aspire (which barely Aspired to be a real car, hehe), and I was right, the 1.6 is the Hyundai Accent Gsi engine (according to Consumer Reports magazine).

There isn't enough data to show reliability for this car, nor a parts network if things fail, hmm. I'm scared to buy it now, after all, to me, its a lot of money!!!!! The warranty is good, but after reading a lot of headaches about claims, (which I'm sure its all the dealers fault though), I'm convinced things won't go my way.

I think I may opt for a Toyota Echo hatchback (not available in the US, but you guys will get the Scion, :( I want one!!)

I hope the next generation Rio (based on the new '05 Accent platform) will be a better car, they've already got the right engine, just need all the rest of the good bits Hyundai has to offer.

Cheers, and thanks for the advice.

the Ford Aspire

The Ford Aspire was a rebadged Kia Rio from back in the day (although it wasn't called that at the time.)

and I was right, the 1.6 is the Hyundai

My 00 Sephia has had two warranty items replaced, brake discs up front, (dealer mechanic saw they were wearing a little just before the 40,000km warranty was up and replaced them although they didn't NEED to be) and door latches that froze up and it was painless and quick.

but you guys will

Echo's are crap for ergonomics and gutless to boot (or they were when they first came out)

good bits Hyundai
