They were talking about this on the Jeremy Vine show on Friday. It is genuine and seems to be a good idea.

The emails are still coming in thick and fast, asking if we can use Pipeline's purchasing power to get better deals on other products like heating oil, gas or even car insurance. For those who wrote in about oil, we are making progress and will write to you individually in a few days. It's looking good!
Gas is a deserving case, with all the recent price rises, but very tricky - and we don't really want to spend too much time on things that have nothing to do with petrol or motoring. Still, have a look at this new page on our website

and you will see what I mean. The other big question that many of you are asking is "how are the negotiations with our retail partner going and when am I going to get my card?" The short answer is, it's all moving ahead, but not as quickly as we would like. Wheels move slowly in large organisations and our membership has clearly grown faster than they were expecting. We are keeping the pressure on and we are still hoping to have some good news for you in May or June.
Can you tell us what retailer you are gunning for please, as I signed up member Im hoping its Esso. I really hope its not BP as they are the most expensive (about 4p dearer than the others) here in North Oxfordshire.

If anyone here isn't using it, they should. It saves me at least 1p/litre every time I fill up.

Thing is, its all relative. I can save 1p a litre by making a 24 mile round trip, as opposed to filling up at my local garage (1 mile away), its just that travelling to the cheaper place costs more than the saving unless I am in that area and passing by the cheapest place.

Sure, understood. The website send me an email twice a week with the 5 cheapest stations within about 3 miles of my postcode. Two I never pass in a normal week, one is a mile detour and the other two are options on my way to work. Works for me. No-one in their right mind would do a 12-mile detour to save 1p/litre.
I tend to check their latest email when I am due to fill up and then plan the next journey to work to include the best price. It's worked every time so far.

nslookup finds it so it's not timing out at the DNS stage, typing the number into the browser still produces a timeout.
Hmm, so that's about 70p or so saved per tank. Hardly seems worth worrying about! You could get that by driving efficiently, removing everything you don't need from the car, losing some weight and driving naked.
Sounding more worth it now actually.

And since it costs exactly nothing to get the emails, what's the problem? As I said, it works for me. If you don't want to bother, don't bother.

wonder WTF is wrong with it here then? still won't go this morning. The odd thing is that it's a time-out, not a "can't find", so I don't think, for example, that it's a DNS problem.

Me to... Austin have you tried a different browser? Though I don't think the site is trying to be "clever", as those sort of things normally fail on my odd ball system.
Tried, ping and/or traceroute etc?
Ping fails (fairly common now as many routers drop the packets) and traceroute gives up after:
