Fitting disco 200tdi in def 90

Hi,

Anyone fitted the disco into a defender 90 ? Did you have any significant problems and what exhaust system did you use due to the turbo being in a different location.

Cheers, Andy

When I was looking for a 200tdi for my 90 I was advised to avoid Disco versions cos it's a PIA due to the turbo being in a different place. I was told it wouldn't fit. So I made sure I got one from another 90.

Dunno exactly how you do it, but my local LR specialist puts lots of Disco TDi's into Defenders and they go much better than the standard version.

They might tell you what is involved if you ask them nicely! (01926) 335630.

AFAIAA the engines are identical. Would be interested to hear what is the difference in construction/tuning. The exhaust is different as the turbo is in a different position - down the side to fit under the bonnet.

Hi Andy,

My other half fitted the above application to our 90 and yes the exhaust downpipe is a problem. He got round this by by cutting away the bulkhead and having a downpipe specially made by a company at Lytham St Annes, Blackpool. If your familiar with the LRO forum he is on there under the name of PJWAMIMI and if you would like a bit more info you could leave him a private message.

Not much info really, but it is possible to do without too many problems, but for all the technical info it is him you need to speak to.
