The 4x4 argument seems to be on Radio 2 at least twice a month - is it really the biggest thing facing humanity needing discussion?

The most pressing issues that appear most regularly are 4x4s and those evil DVD copying types, 10 years in prison is the latest recommendation for people copying DVDs.

Also another 4x4 article on the beeb website;

"Thirsty 4x4 vehicles have lost favour because of higher petrol prices and opposition from environmental groups.

Yet the study's authors, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, said most of the fall was due to two best-selling 4x4 models being replaced."

So basically, they write an article about a study showing that 4x4 sales have dropped. The study states this is because two best selling models are due for an update, but the beeb reporter states that it's because they are "gas-guzzlers" and bean munchers don't like them and then goes on to write the rest of the article as if the study supports the reporter's opinion.

At the end of the "article" there is a feedback form with the following title;

"Are you a former 4x4 driver who has downsized to a more fuel efficient alternative? Contact us using the form below:"

Yet another example of them reporting on something while at the same time ignoring the actual thing they are reporting on and just using it as a prop to present the reporter's opinion.

I'd suggest you use the form and the BBC complaints page to point out to them that their reporters are using contradictory stories to hang their own unsupported opinions on.

What annoys me about all this, they say I drive a gas guzzler (Discovery Series 2). My wife has a Nissan Almera(52 Reg) 1.8 SVE, Cheap to tax but bloody expensive on fuel. It does 3-4 mile a gallon less thn my Discovery. Over a year mine does less harm than hers does. Rant over. Mick Land Rover Discovery Driver doing 40000+miles a year.

Did I read today that the increase in fuel duty was expected to reduce carbon emissions by some amount nobody can get a grip on and raise 2 billion in tax revenues? Talk about have your cake and eat it.

Regardless of whether you agree with replacing Trident, at least I now have a good idea where the money will come from.

Less people smoking in'it. The money for all these bullets needs to come from somewhere. It's political bollocks from the likes of Red Ken (Ok to a degree he has a point) stiring up all this s**te to basically save the world ... nah to support the government when they hike taxes. That is 2 billion per annum in fuel duty revenue apparently. Some 'expert' on the radio the other day suggested that the total cost would indeed be about 20 billion over 10 years. Another one today (General Jackson I think) said that the cost, over the life time of the Trident system, would amount to about 2 billion per annum, and that he thought that was not expensive. Well, it isn't if you can magic extra tax out of folk who have little choice but pay it.
