dodgy cut-out solenoid on the pump, getting hot and breaking down?

as to the dashboard... ours is like that too. I suspect the top of the plastic stuff shrinks. Given suitably vicious glue, in theory, you could stick it back down, but I bet to do a decent job you need the windscreen out so that you can put a load of weights on it.

I saw a kit at Eastnor for repairing the dash. About £45. Perhaps someone else may know who sells them.

ISTR that one of the comics was advertising a kit to fix this problem for considerably less than a new dash. I don't have the specifics, but someone more disco-oriented might remember.
