TDI 300 prop shafts

Don't forget to scotch the wheels if you're going underneath to remove a prop. Mark the positions of the end yoke in relation to the prop to preserve the balance as you could get it 180 degrees out. And if there's no obvious play in the joints, they could be tight with rust which would necessitate removal to be sure. If there is a tight joint it will be knackered even if it doesn't appear so, so change it anyway. Remove all the circlips and the grease nipple before you start to dismantle it.

The garage( he's a one man band , very helpful & CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP) I use is on holiday for a couple of weeks and I've promised to drag a couple of trailers up for a charity walk before they come back

If you're near Manchester I can lend you my spare prop while you sort your's out if you're stuck, don't know if I've got an auto one though. I was assuming your's is manual.

Do you need 4WD to do that? Just drop the suspect prop and lock centre diff? Can't on mine bastard diff lock lever's seized! Do that anyway, it'll prove prop's dorked.

Took the Disco down to some one else who knows about them yesterday

On the way down the noises stopped , Typical

Picked it up this morning and was told , he couldnt find any thing wrong

I'll find out soon enough ,

I've two horse boxes full of camping gear to get up to the Lakes

I think its a case of keeping my fingers crossed !!
