Any gadgets to 'lock' bendy door tops shut?

If they can't do the door, they'll do the glass. Or something else.

Yep he may as well leave it unlocked, hopefully that way they will just take what they want and not do much damage. Or get an alarm with proximity sensors, if it chirps at them before they start they will probably move on to another target.

time to fight crime. fix a shotgun to the inside of the roof, fix a bit of string to the trigger, fix the other end to the top of the door.. i dont think they will come back again,

If this is happening on a regular basis I'd leave it unlocked! Make sure it has an immobiliser. Does the alarm still work if the car's not locked? Leave the glove box open and remove the rear window tray etc. Remove the front of the radio if he has one.

Are the potential thieves bending back the window then opening the door from the inside? My old Carlton has deadlocks as standard so that can't be done (the opening from inside bit)

Try a wireless cam in the car linked to a VCR in the house. Pick a cam that uses a 12V mains adaptor. Some come with IR lamps for night time use.

Move to a less pikey area? Get a less pikey car? I'm sure pikey is the key here.

What else would be appropriate for a young person these days and be less 'Chavvy'? My first 'car' was a Morris Minor van ..?

Other than outside his house in what was once a reasonable small town in Hertfordshire but I believe has now been assimilated by London? ;-(

Ah, now that's always the rub isn't it. I don't have anything vaulable so can't leave it on view and I'm not sure this time he did either .. last time I believe it was his CD's. The don't seem to bother with my casettes ?

Possibly, or move on to the next car they can bend open quietly and get into easily once done so?

I did sorta suggest that to him this morning ..

That could work .. *except*, his car is often parked directly outside his house, next to the 1m wide pavement and I assume 'passers by' would / might set it off?

We spoke about that too (and I already have the kit) and that would at least allow him to confirm who they think it is. Not sure what then though ..?

I did ask his Mium (the local neighbourhood watch rep) if she had reported it to the Police and she said she hadn't .. 'what's the point' ..?

Well I believe the point is they can then see how much crime is going on in an area and could theoretically assign more resources this way (patrols etc) ?
