Astra roof trims - how to remove

Nov 27, 2004 4 Replies

I want to replace one of the long black plastic roof trims - is that what they are called? - the ones that have a pair of sliding covers to allow a roof-rack to be fitted, and go right up the side of the windscreen and all along the side of the roof. The reason being that we have just acquired the car and the sliding covers are rusty for some reason.

Do I just prise it out, or are there any tricks to getting it out without breaking the concealed attachment clips? I gather from the microfiche at the main dealer there are 4 or 5 different clip types fixing it.

It's a 2001 1.6 Club hatchback.

Anglegrinder. It's the one true tool.

I assume you are joking! If not could you be a little more specific?

It's steely, just like irony but harder to follow.

Thanks - most helpful. NOT. Is there anyone here that can give me useful advice on this?
