End of my pinking? Place your bets :-D

I've just put some Magnecor KV85 ignition leads in my Sei now. I won't be able to test it properly until tomorrow, but I've started the engine to make sure that they're all connected etc. The idle sounds pretty normal, but when I rev it the car sounds amazing. I just wanna floor it! I can't wait to test it tomorrow. I'm not convinced that it will have stopped my pinking, but I'm very optomistic. I would've never believed the difference it's made.

btw, before you say it lol, I'm not trolling!

If you get pinking with an off load engine I'd scrap the car

No, it only pinks when under load, the leads did improve the engine sound when reving without load though. I tested it today, and the car's much better. It only pinks if I put my foot down hard, or on hills, and it's only slight. I'm guessing that it's probably the ignition coil that causes the small amount of pinking now.

The car also sounds a lot better, it's amazing after 4000 rpm :-). I really don't know how I can cure the final bit of pinking though, maybe I could keep varnishing my old ignition coil, and eventually it will prevent sparks from jumping.

Your engine is either not pinking or needs Fiat attention. As we've said many months ago.

If he's not trolling, and I think he is..... it's odds-on that the 'pinking' is a loose heat shield on the cat. Common Cinq / Sei problem.

I've already paid for a diagnosis though, I don't wanna waste any more money on it :-(.

I noticed today that it's still misfiring, and the misfiring can't be caused by a cat heat shield. It was damp today though, so I suspect that the dampness made the ignition part arc more :-(.

Maybe I'll buy a new car at the end of the summer. My parents just keep telling me that my car's running better than any car they've ever had lol. Remember, if they have a car that does more that 60,000 miles and still runs, then they consider it to be a good car lol!

Yes, it's been covered at length of course. I told Peter that it was probably the heat shield of the cat by email at least a dozen moons ago. But, no, he was sure it was pinking...

A misfire? Right. Misfires are stored by the ECU. If whoever's been "servicing" it has been buggering around with it, and knackered something, then it needs money spending on it.
