Ford Transit Carb probs.

Hi All Got a 92 Transit Petrol thats running badly, its got a weber carb rather than the VV, but I can`t find any info on where the mixture screw is etc and what it should be set at. Does anyone know where this is or even what weber it is. Its got some kind of electronic choke arangment which seems to have a ford style plug into the main loom so I am wondering if ford did ever suply them as standard too....... ANy help please......

Before suspecting the carb check the rest of the engine. If it is a pinto engine then I would start by checking the valve clearances as they are prone to pocketing the valves due to use of unleaded. Next would be plugs/leads/air leaks/distr cap/rotor/timing

Is it a twin choke or single choke? the twin choke type mixture screw may be on the engine side of the carb and so is a pig to reach. It will probably have an idle jet cutoff, so there will be a wire going onto a tubular bit that sticks out of the side, the idle mixture screw is generally below this.

The idle mix should be set by machine rather than by ear, but about 2 turns out would be a good start.
