True, but if his priority is his pride and joy, then forget about anything else. Don't mix it up with a personal agenda to be seen as 'smart'.
It is also intrusive to be secretively filmed at work. I cetrainly wouldn't like it. Like anything else about intrusion of privacy, it should only be done if there is 'reasonable grounds' for suspicion. What if the mechanic e.g had an affair with the secretary.

You really f*cked that link didn't you? Anyhow, a solely battery operated cam would be a really really stupid idea and I bet even that one has a power lead option (omitted for photographic purposes).
The beauty of running off the car power is that it's "fit and forget". Always on when needed and always charged.

As the site mentions, there are inferior car cameras out there which are a waste of money.
But still needs dangling messy power wires up to the camera. I prefer the rechargeable via the USB which plugs into the cigar lighter (which now has taken over the job as a general 12V outlet). I hope that you can switch off the screen to save power.

It's a piece of cake to run the wire around the windscreen tucked invisibly behind the trim.
I don't need to consciously turn mine on or off or to remember to charge it. The screen is off by default when it's folded away.

No but didn't need it, he reversed into the front of my car. Ergo with conflicting statements I guess the best I could hope for would be a
50/50 settlement (without he camera that is).

Annoyingly my 12V socket is always on but I've got a motion detection feature which works well.

I'm lucky enough to have two 12V sockets in the front, one permanently live and the other ignition switched. I say "lucky", but I did have to do a bit of fusebox jiggerypokery to make one permanently live.

Good luck with running it off the internal battery! Duration claimed is 30 minutes. Customer reviews suggest nearer 6 minutes at most.
It looks to be a stupidly bulky and obtrusive unit anyway. Why fit such a large screen when any serious reviewing will be done on a computer?

I have not made any decisions yet, still looking around. That could take months... I agree that a screen isn't really needed and this only saps power.
