I mean that the Rear fog stays on ok, but the lindicator light on the switch itself doesn't stay on. Nevertheless, the rear fog status is clearly indicated on the illuminated fascia.
johannes gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying:
Ah. Stop worrying - that's irrelevant. Merely the illumination of the switch.
is there a warning light on the dash to show the lamp is on? if so then it should pass the test, many cars do not have a light in the switch at all.
But it failed because of that.
Exactly, and it does have warning light on the dash, clear an bright. But it says: "Offside Rear fog lamp not working (1.3.2b)"
At first I didn't understand it at all, but it turns out to be exactly the tell-tale problem that it refers to.
johannes gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying:
If it did, then the tester's a f****it. However, if it did, then the fail wouldn't say 1.3.2b, since that's the lights themselves, not the tell-tale (1.3.1b)
johannes gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying:
Then the tester's flagged the wrong thing as a fail, and it shouldn't have failed anyway.
My money's on the ignition or lights not being on.
If the telltale on the dash is working then how would that be a fail?

Additional information arriving later does tend to change answers...
Wierdly your post turned up last night, apologies.
Have patience; re-test tomorrow.
Car passed on re-test; same rear fog light, no difference.
I think what might have happened: There is a small wheel on the fascia to regulate the light on fascia when headlight is used, you car turn the light on fascia and buttons up and down. When it is turned down, then the light on the buttons goes out, but you don't notice the effect at daylight time, only that tell-tale on the button goes out, but as I said there is still a bright tell-tale icon on the fascia. However, I just kept quiet awaiting the result as I didn't want to start an argument...
