MoT shock!

Hi guys,My '94 golf CL failed its MoT today on one of the rear shocks. Theysuggested both were replaced, and also both bumpstops which were bothbroken. They want 180 quid. I asked around locally and nobody seems tocarry the bumpstops, but Kwik-Fit will do both shocks for 120 pounds andBathwick tyres only want 78 quid for the same. I'm waiting for a pricefrom somebody else.The bumpstops are only advisory, but do I need to get them done? What sortof price am I looking at, and does it make sense getting the VW dealer todo it as a seperate job?Thanks for any advice. All the best, Angus Manwaring. Do them. It will cost a fortune in labour to have them done at any other time - do them with the shocks and it's free (sort of).

The bumpstops/boots on my MX-5 are in a terrible state - at least, the boots are - but with over 60,000 miles on the clock I might as well defer the job until the shocks need doing. They're probably past their best already.
