The only perfect finish will be a professional repair.

You can try with aerosols (primer, undercoats & topcoat) and lots of rubbing down in-between but it will never look brilliant unless you have the right equipment and years of experience!

I might do that :(, tried spraying, sand and repeat 4 more times and then let it dry for 3 days and then smooth off. it feels level with my finger, but the new paint it just abit brighter than the original paint.

I used the exact colour from car company, but I think it's because of the oxidisation, i try again later but with darker colour. oh well 3 time lucky :)

Check inside a door jam for the original colour. Trying to match to an oxidised paint is near impossible for the amateur. Have you tried cutting back the old paint with something like Farecla or even T-cut to see if you can bring back the original colour?

It's possible to get a perfect finish with aerosols if it's a plain colour, but expensive and time consuming.

Don't forget to say to the paintshop 'I caught some kids attacking my car with sandpaper', rather than admitting it was your mistake :)

That's the point. The spray paint you buy will only match new paint even if you get the precise paint used at manufacture. On the only time I have had to use a specialist, he matched the respray to the colour of the existing paint.

how much does it cost about?, do they calculate by area need to be done or do they respray the area part even if it's just a small area? this is a driver side door

Ah now there's a question. The area I had sprayed was about a foot square and cost about £60 (which I didn't pay cos it was my neighbours fault). Would have been more if I hadn't payed cash. I thought it quite good value given that he must have taken over an hour to match the paint, prepare the area, spray it etc.

thats not too expensive, i say my whole area is about 3cm square
