What paint to use on a bumper

May 26, 2007 2 Replies

My wifes Volvo 850 needs a touch up on the bumper. It is a grey/black colour and has rubbery feel to it (if that makes sense). Anyone know whether this is a dealers "special" or is it something widely available at Halford's etc?

Thanks for any ideas

I've never seen anything good for painting rubber with, but you may find that brake fluid can get rid of surface crud. Be careful though and try it on an area that doesn't show first, and keep it away from paintwork.

Had a closer look today. The 850 bumper is plastic not rubber and it is definitely painted with summat.

Halfords have a dark grey, vinyl paint for bumpers. This looks like the main suspect to me. It's a bit pricey £10 a can, but may give it a go depending on how it looks after I have rubbed the damage out and buffed it up a bit.

Cheers
