Yeah. I wanted to keep her, worth far more as a vehicle than as a trade in, but even now we're struggling to justify running one car, let alone two...

I can't justify running a 200bhp gas-guzzling barge, when I could have a £500 Pug 106 Diesel instead.

How? York's easy enough to get about in by bike or foot but what about when you want to visit other places? Even going shopping is much more hassle when you don't have a car.

Charlie works for GNER so we have steeply discounted rail tickets. And the bus system works too.

Or we hire something.

We're now in the position of having the car because of a website and Klub activities, rather than the other way around.

York's bus service is top nacho. The mainline GNER train works very well. Job done.

I've never found the bus service to be that good, it's much easier to get about near the centre by bike. As for the trains the only time it's easier for me is going to central London, maybe Edinburgh, but I enjoy that drive. If I want to visit my parents in Rochdale, only an hours drive from York, it'd take me about 3 hours using the train. Going to the lake district would be just about impossible.

The buses don't stink of urine and aren't filthy, and the drivers don't go through red lights? Christ on a bike.

I had a text message from a mate a few weeks ago, he was on a bus in Leeds and someone had taken a crap on the floor of the bus. I'm really glad I've got a car :).

The main disadvantage of public transport is that you have to share it with poor people. F*ck that.
