manifold(stainless steel)

Are you? It wouldn't surprise me if Burgerman was at all to be fair.

I am but not old stuff. Are you?

No, he ain't sure. He hasn't even got a clue.

Stainless steel is especially suited -in fact some grades are develloped for it- for high temperature applications.

Mild steel however will not resist the high temperatures over an extended period of time, the manifold will deform, sag or crack. The only mild steel manifolds with some lifespan are those made in thick ( at least 5 times thicker than stainless) and the turbo must be heavely braced/suspensed.

The fact is that stainless requires more expertise and a better welder/ equipement, all of which the "Ken"-specialists lack. Hell: they even lack the knowlegde to make more than the logstyle type of manifold.

There is 1 material still better suited for turbomanifolds and that's titanium but due to complexity of fabrication and pure cost of the material (1000 UKP / kg) almost exclusively reserved to F1.

To be fair Dave, he's lying anyway, I mean, he clearly doesn't have any friends.

Trying to irritate.........................lol

Strangely enough all F1 exhaust manifolds are made from inconel, not titanium, and I certainly have more knowledge and "equipement" than a Google Gary, such as Tom De Moron!

Interesting that you dont seem to know very much about it then.

From the amount of time you spend telling us whether you are on your PC or laptop, on this NG, I would say you dont have that many friends either...................

I don't spend any time - it's set up to do it automatically - but I love that it irritates you :-)

As for friends, I've just finished Uni, students have more friends than any other member of society.

He never said he raced. You'll find the riders don't know f*ck all about the workings and mechanics - you'd be able to sympathise with them.

How does one build an historic car from scratch?

You don't seem to have realised that Inconel (it's a tradename) is simply a variety of stainless steel. Stainless steel is a general name which covers a variety of alloys.

Since when were students members of society?

Good point, well made :-)

Your argument falls apart there.

You build it then wait. ;)

It's a bit of a pain but a titanium manifold is a thing of beauty to watch glow.
