Nissan Engine Swap

Sep 08, 2003 8 Replies

Just wondered if anyone knows much about Nissans.

I've got a 93 Nissan Sunny SR(1.6 16v)

After christmas I'll be looking to purchase a 2.0 16v nissan primera, which will be used to donate the engine to my sunny.

Does anyone know what I'll need, ie, I need the engine, ecu, gearbox and I assume I'll need the primera driveshaft too? what about radiator etc etc

Is there anything else I should know about the engine transfere.

and yes,,,I have thought about the 2.0 turbo from the pulsar gti-r, but to do this I'd need to use a 2litre primera gearbox which will not stand the power from the turbo engine.

Thanks in advance

oh, and hello to those who know me.

What's the point?

An old Sunny is an old Sunny no matter what lump it has in it.

Given the hassle you're likely to have doing the swap, you'd be better off flogging your Sunny and buying a Sunny 2.0e GTi

Rad should be fine, Engine, ECU, Gearbox (do both have same clutch mechanisms?), drivershafts will be needed are you sure the spline pattern on the end of the primera ones is the same as the sunny hubs.

Yeh it will, it'll be fine. TBH if I was doing this I'd be using the GTI-R lump as for an extra 400CC over standard it hardly seems worth the effort.

I have such a Primera for sale now if you are interested, mail me if you want details.

I dont like almera's I dont think they look that good to be honest.

I've thought about buying a Gti Sunny, but there a bit on the expensive side, the last time I looked they were just under 2 grand.

AND...contrary to what you all think, I think the sunny sunny is one hell of a little car, yes, its not the fastest, no, its nots the best looking, and no its not the most comfortable, but we all have different tastes, and I like it.

In an ideal world, I'd like a nissan 200sx

the old shape? I like those....

I actually prefere the new ones, they look far more agressive, although the old ones are available for under a grand, shame they look crap.

Almera vs Sunny

Yes I dont disagree that the almera is a lovely car, but theres something about the sunny that attracts me too it.

I think I'm going to buy a Sunny GTi now, I can pick one up for about

1500-2000 quid, and they have 150bhp, which I can increase a little.

I'd prefer stick with Nissans, as I've been infected with the BUG, I'm sortov a fan of Nissan now. and yes, although I live in the north east, I dont work at the nissan factory or have anything to do with the company.

get an S13, rapid, much more so than a crappy cunny or almera.

look nicer and is rwd.... loud and brash, mans handling im told. :P
