Having some periodic noise from the engie. Sounds like a lifter. Any thoughts? I am new to Nissans.

TIA Shawn

What grade oil are you guys running?

A few members over at Maxima.org have had the same problem. They switched to a thicker oil and the noise went away.

So, if you're using 5w30, move to 10w30.

Perhaps the oil filter you use doesn't have an adequate anti-drainback valve. So for those rare times that you hear the noise, could it be for those times when the car was sitting for a while, which then gave a chance for all the oil to drain back to the pan? An oil filter with a weak anti-drainback valve would increase the likelyhood of this happening.
