Oil on spark plugs of 2001 Maxima with 90000 miles

I was changing the spark plugs on my 2001 Maxima and I noticed that there was a noticeable amount of oil on the spark plugs. 2 of them were quite a bit worse than the rest, but they all had oil on them. I did some searching on this group and found this post:

Hi Dave,

I've changed my gaskets ( and it solved the problem) when I had the 95 Maxima but only the front bank. I need to do for the current 2000 Maxima that I have. It was not difficult at all. I am talking about the front part. Haynes book just gives a glimpse on how to change. I would not do the rear since you have to remove way more "stuff" in order to get to the cover. If you do the front, just be carefull to scrape any old gasket part that may be attached to the cover and do allow any dirt to get inside the engine. I called nissan and for the cover gasket they want $30 (each). Found on Advance auto parts for $18 but the plug tube seals could not find at no autoparts and Nissan is charging $8 each.

Hope this help you. Rod
