I recently purchased a late-'98 GTP, in excellent shape, 60K miles. Reading about the coolant leak problems, and the recall, I am confused about what, if any, actions I need to take. It appears the official recall did not include '98 model year, but the problem is still there, correct? Is there a "hidden recall" that I can request or cite? Failing all this, what is the specific service/repair that should be done and how much ought it to cost?

If it doesn't include your year of vehicle, you will not be able to have GM perform the recall for free. But....it's only 3 nuts. You could simply request the three nuts at the parts counter of a dealership and install them yourself. There is a bracket from the intake manifold to the throttle body that needs to be moved over a bit to access one nut, and you need to torque them to 132 inch lbs. Do one nut at a time.
