I highly recommend that you post this at

Not putting down anyone here, but the ezBoard guys tend to be more into the older Soobs. I believe I have seen many discussions on the exact symptoms with carbureted Subarus - something to do with a plastic part that melts inside the carburetor and gums things up, or perhaps something else - anyway - I would bet that they will nail it from your description - certainly wil tell you one or two very specific things to check.

My friend had this problem. Turned out to be the vacuum hose from the carburettor.

Well after checking out the fuel system, and finding it to be fine, I turned to the ignition system, coil checked out fine, replaced the distributor as there was a crack in it, but still no go, matter of fact it was getting worse, no spark off of the coil whatsoever.

Well after 2 days of pulling my hair out it turns out it was a blown fuse, ripped out the 20 amp one out of the heater slot, put it in the one for the ignition/coil and she fired right up.

I am wondering if this was the problem after all, it was blown but still making contact intermittently therefore causing the engine to stall

thanks for the ideas everyone

Glad you got it fixed - and thanks for posting back so everyone can learn.

/sigh

The saga continues, I believe I have finally come to the root of my problem, after about 3 days of it running with no problems the same thing occured but this time it will not start at all.

I thought It was the fuel pump but after pulling it ,when I hook it directly to the battery it pumps away just fine. It appears that the fuel pump control unit (Haynes Manual term) / Revolution Sensor (Subaru Dealers term) Is the problem, It is not allowing power through to the pump.

So I am on the lookout for a Revolution Sensor (Dealer wants 175.00 CDN for it mmmmmm I don't think so :) and the local wreckers have none. Found one in Victoria (about 3 hours away from me) for $35.00 CDN, but I think I am going to try bypassing this unit and custom wire the pump first before dumping any more money into a $300.00 Car .

I'll Post back the results after my latest adventure in Soobie Land concludes :)

Oh and Bill, I have posted about this on the

I have gotten more responses here so far so I'll continue to post onboth :)
