Can anyone tell me the life of the timing belt on this model. Am I correct to assume it is a belt and not a chain. Thanks for your help. Robertwft

Nope, it is a chain. No worries about a belt.

Chain.
1998 was the first model year having the new all aluminum block 1ZZ-fe engine. This engine has a cam chain.
