Reality says otherwise. Health care is one of the very few areas where government has a better track record on quality and costs, and the US, with one of the least socialized systems, has the highest costs, at about 15% of GDP. In comparison, Britain and Japan spend only about 6%, and Canada is at 10-12%. Also as I've mentioned previously, the hospitals here with the lowest costs are Maricopa County Medical Center and the hospitals that receive the highest proportion of their revenue from government (Sun City retirement community's Boswell Hospital). Our county hospital even used to be a cash cow that the county government regularly raided to cover up its shortfalls in general revenue.
