OT: Bridge collapse

Sorry, did we wake you up?

This morphed from a bridge collapse to Eisenhower and the military industrial complex, go figure.

I was amazed how quickly they corrected the big dig problems...

We need to do more work on Beaming. I works on Star Trek. Lets get GW working on it.

Thank you for fessing up to that......it explains a lot. ;-)

The Big Dig took *way* longer than it was supposed to, ran *way* over $$-wise, all sorts of probs before it was "done". Except turned out it was not "done".

There's the reality of the *possibilility* of underhanded dealings, or just plain neglect by the powers that be.

Cathy, believe it or not, there are people who think the construction biz is squeaky clean 100% of the time. It might be because some people think a blind belief in corporate goodness is an integral part of patriotism. Or, it could simply be ignorance, or growing up in a white bread community.

News flash, Joe. The WORST construction fraud I've seen has been in two extremely wealth "white breat" neighborhoods.

Corporate goodness. Funny.

Probably the worst is a telephone company central office that is a time bomb waiting to collapse. The first good earthquake with an epicenter close enough is going to take down this literal house of cards.

There are going to be many very pissed-off wealthy people without dialtone.

Yeah, but many in such communities don't believe "things like that" happen where they live. My town's a great example. The town board wanted to build a

300-slip marina to handle "all the transient boat traffic". **WHAT** transient boat traffic? Nobody had any data to back up the claim. There was no business plan, except to build the marina and see what happens.

A few citizens questioned this loudly at some town hall meetings, also asking which board members might have relatives in the construction business. Something interesting happened: The plan went away.

Before making all these wild guesses and fueling speculation and rumor perhaps you should wait for the NTSB report to come out, that is unless you feel GWB will tell the NTSB what to say in the report, if that's the case then I hold no hope for you.

Right. I should've been more clear: There are communities whose residents think shortcuts and corruption only happen in New Jersey, but certainly not in *their* communities. This is clearly a silly view.

I don't think this last has anything to do with it. IOW, just as much corruption possible there as anywhere else, is my bet.

Cathy

This, I can agree with.

Yeah, see my other reply to your other nearby post.

Cathy

Ain't it amazin' when that happens.

I doubt, dbu, that there are more than a handful here who'd be wacky enough to directly blame Bush for a bridge failure. They most certainly would be without hope.

But I could be wrong.

Or so Al Qaeda and their liberal patsies would want us to believe.

Resist! Resist their lies and follow the Great President Bush!

More likely booze wore off, bladder became full..
