Prius beaten by BMW diesel in fuel economy

Whoooosh. That one's over my head.

The electric cars from Toys R Us get better mileage than the Prius! Really.

Skills or mindset. They might be of the mind to drive differently than others. Tomes

Filled up the Jeep today at $3.01/gallon at a Getty station. Exxon was at $3.05. Tomes

After reading the road test on the sports car, and the conduct of the Prius driver, that could very well be.

It's been some time since SoCal has seen those prices.

A Corolla handles better than a Prius? Dunno about that. My Prius is a pretty nimble critter. How often do you drive a Prius? Tomes

Ever driven a Corolla S ? I haven't personally driven a Prius, but my sister-in-law (a Zonie) has one and her husband has a Prius.

She's not impressed at all with the handling of the Prius. I figure someone who owns both has a more valid opinion than I do.

Wal-Mart regular is $3.19; most others are about $3.21.

Nope. When it's your 4th car in a row - same make/model & your really liked the other model better.... boring.

Search me. I don't even remember if my first Corolla was a FWD or RWD. I remember switching from a RWD to a FWD, & discovering how very much better a FWD was in snow - the car was actually liable to go in the direction in which I steered it!, but don't remember if that was from my '76 Datsun to '84 Corolla, or the '90 Corolla.

And the AE86 bit is lost on me... My '84 Corolla was a 4 door liftback - which I suppose made it a 5-door... It was my favorite Corolla, other than: my 1990's interior (upholstery-wise), and the engine & driver's seating position of my '04. I *hate* the '04's upholstery. Ugly. IMO.

There you go. I would too like to drive them back to back. It would be interesting to try out a Prius with a sport package added on. Tomes

The 1984 5 door Corolla was front wheel drive.

Wow. That something like this is even being considered is...nauseating.

Thanks. Then it was the Datsun that went straight - & softly plopped into a snowbank across the street - instead of turning left at the intersection when I steered it left. ;-)

You're welcome! Stick around and we'll try to steer you straight (so to speak).
