Rav4 clutch change

Certainly aint a fun job, though thats in the bonnet of a celica alltrac. Its a definite engine - out job in these. Maybe you have more space. Certainly most people I know of in enthusiasts clubs, who normally wont let anyone near their car, drop it in to be done by a well known garage. That said Im doing my own as we speak. Dont forget the transmission wraps right round the block and is supported at a fair few points. Also expect to take a fair bit of leverage to get it to slide off the spline.

Holy crap, I'd love to find that group of engineers that put that thing together and punch each one in the nose. I've done three or four of those things at the dealer I worked for, and each time I dug deep into my soul and wondered why I fix cars for a living. The book time on that job is like 10 or 11 hrs of labor. To put that in perspective, a clutch replacement on a normal fwd car designed by sober engineers is between 3 and 5. Anyway, buy a manual, make sure you understand it first, have all the tools available and a few other people to help. And buy a few bottles of liquor too. You'll need them.

If they're the same ones that put the spark plugs in the Supra under the intake, and the oil filter for the Corolla GTS under the exhaust manifold, and the fuel filter for the Celica halfway down the block, and the fuel filter for the Supra behind and above the differential, give me a call!
