Oh dear, you didn't say what year. I had a similar problem with an '85 Celica. Checked all the wiring, etc, everything seemed ok.

Then what happened was the Driver's window stopped going down. Took out the switch, got a soldering iron, sanded down the contacts and soldered them all sufficiently to make sure current flowed.

Installed the switch; all windows work. Try looking at the switch itself before ripping the wiring (and your hair) out!

Hachi,..when you say you soldered them,..did you mean the back of the contact where it is riveted,..or the front? The reason I ask, is I haven't heard of solder being used as a contact material. I;d imagine they would weld to-gether.

That's what I thought! Hasn't yet ;) (knock, knock) Solder the tops where the plastic part of the switch causes the contacts to touch. Of course, this is just so I can get the window down (no AC right now) so I don't *roast* untils I can find a switch! Toy's price for a 19 year old car part? $150.00!!

itself

OK :-),..I'll keep that fix in mind! You need to go to a wreckers and get a second-handy from a damaged door.

$35. Just have to get out there. Maybe if I stop answering these damn posts long enough!

BTW, paid $200 for the car, you can see the reluctance for spending a buck-and-a-half for a switch. Body is in *excellent* shape, though. Guy oiled it three years in a row new. Engine, :(
