85 4wd extra cab - Good deal?

Going to check out an 85 or 86 pickup with 4wd and extra cab this weekend. Rebuilt motor last year, has a couple thousand on the rebuilt motor and about 150,000 on the rest of the truck. Apparantly it has been very well maintained and the owner has a box full of receipts from it. Original owner, the owner died and his wife is just trying to get rid of it. $1500. Any specifics to look for? The body isn't in perfect shape, but I wouldn't expect it to be. Also, question: what year did toyota go from carbed to efi? This truck has the 22r motor and my dad has a weber carb setup and a header for this motor left over from our old 80 'yota pickup.

I would prefer the 22RE, (EFI), but it's still a pretty good deal. If it's in reasonable shape, grab it.

85 was last year for straight front diff, leaf springs, etc... 86 first year for IFS (independent front suspension). Most hardcore 4-wheeler's prefer the straight front diff. The bed will probably be rusted out, no big. But if the frame is rusted out as well, think hard about. $1500 is about average as long as it's mechanically sound. My 86 was available with either EFI or carb.

I have an '84 and I believe that was the year Toyota changed over to EFI. My truck was built early in the year and is carbed. My shop manual shows both situations. Since I am responding a full month late, I assume you have already made the choice. I have people chasing me around to sell "little red", but I won't. This truck really shines off road.
