Sorry John, but as I recall, you have a habit of providing copious amounts of useless, verbal refuse........and in response to your e-mail, certain people in this group seem to think that they are some incredible, exceptional VW mechanic, well, I'm sorry, but certain people like to pay for peace of mind, and how dare certain individuals compromise this. VWGirl is not a licensed mechanic, nor is she the expert in this group, and the fact that she would belittle another member's mechanical inability disgusts me.

At this point in time, I think Joey would get the majority vote.....you haven't done much to convince us of your VW supremacy.
at least changing the oil should be simple... I mean it requires removing all of one bolt if you want to do it that way... if you are capable of driving a car you should be capable of removing a bolt, letting the liquid drain, replacing said bolt and refilling liquid to proper level... adjusting valves is not really much more complicated... unless someone is physically restricted from doing such, I see no reason why they shouldn't be able to perform such tasks... but then again... i guess most people that are on the road don't **really** know how to drive anyhow, so why should they know anything about their car?
Muir was right a great deal of the time, and dead on in this case. Anyone who's wanting to do a valve adjustment on a warm VW engine is looking to pick up more business from you down the road...

It had been mostly sitting for three or four years, only being driven once a month or so. So when I bought it, it needed work every few months for a couple of years to fix some minor things, so I would always have the mechanic that I took it to adjust the valves while he had it. He would only do it if I brought it the night before and left it overnight. It really is a very simple procedure to do but I was scared to do it for a long time because I just knew I screw it up and detonate the engine. But don't let anybody give you a hard time about not doing it yourself, there's nothing wrong with taking to a competent mechanic. If you have the money and can afford to have the work done for you so that you can enjoy driving your VW, that is your choice. As a matter of fact, mine is sitting on ramps in the yard right now, waiting for a valve check/adjustment tomorrow when I get home from work.

10x the work. You are like a leech....someone has something that may assist you, you jump on top of them, suck what you need, and then toss them aside. As I recall, you were quite annoyed when I could not get your radio code, and as I recall, you all but called me a liar over some fiasco with Beetle Bumper Shocks.C'mon Lauren, lets become a little more mature and admit to our faults.
