With any luck it will be crushed and burned under a jack-knifed semi as it passes through Atlanta and they'll stop hyping that stupid movie.

Aren't you a ray of bitter sunshine - that's a little strong, no?

The Herbie movie is harmless - if you don't like it, don't go see it. Regardless, to see bugs on tour is a cool idea.

Oh yea, let's bash a movie with a decent rating that I can enjoy right along side of my 6 year old !! And besides, he thinks it's really cool that there is a whole movie about a car just like mommy's !!!!!

I can't wait !!!

Well, the bug is not a blue oval, nor is it a bowtie and thank goodness it is not a ram puff.

Just a good old VW!! Deal with it!

I for one will be there when they roll into Duluth, GA on the 31st. It looks like the car is transported in a trailer. Not sure if they'll take it out or not.

Are you kidding? It's on a trailer? What's that say about the owner? Trailer Queen! Damn, has he no balls or integrity at all?

It's for display and they want it to look it's best at all times. I can't see what the big deal is.

Judigng by the pic on the tour site, it looks like it. The owner is Walt Disney I think... his balls disintegrated a while back. :)

I also just found out there's an event happening on Friday the 3rd of June at Gwinnett Place Mall, 6PM-8PM. Radio Disney will be there with Herbie (obviously not the tour Herbie).

Yea the movies are hokey. Yea Herbie has been reduced to a trailer queen. But you know that some small kid (big ones too) out there will be inspired to have one of those little cars. Our VW hobby/sport /business as well as our nation depends on younger folks to keep VW's and ideas alive and well. Long after us old farts have assumed room temp. Some one that saw a Herbie movie or went to a VW show and was inspired will continue keeping our little cars going. What is the future of air cooled VWs ? Only time will tell. For now we enjoy and keep em running as best we can.

Herbie Cruise Update for Pensacola: The local VW Dealership Pete Moore Imports is hosting and feeding all the VW Cruisers and the local Sheriffs dept will be escorting and blocking intersections as the Cruise hits our town. How cool is that? We even have the "Dark Side" helping us!!! :-)

Yep, very true Bill. My 5yr old is Herbie crazy and has seen the trailer for the new movie and is asking hourly to see the movie. LOL Of course I have had no influence in this matter at all.

That's funny.

I agree -- the movie will be hokey and corney, but to a kid they are pretty funny. I remember going to see the 1969 movie as a kid and it is one of the few movies I remember seeing, besides spaghetti westerns (and most of those are really corney by today's standards :) It probably won't do what the "fast and furious" did to kids liking tricked out Honda Civics but it might draw one or two to restore a bug when they grow up. Any hobby needs new blood so that's not a bad thing.

Well, It doesn't look like Betty will be ready for this trip, but I will be there so we can see all the dubs ride into town.

And Lord Knows I'm doing my part to add "new blood" to our hobby.......a 21 year old with a 69 squareback, a 14 year old shopping for a bug, and a 6 year old in training.

Thanks for adding to te VW gene pool Susan! Sorry to hear that Betty is still down. Maybe the Herbie Movie premire on the 24th? Talked to one of the Herbie andFriends drivers tonight . They are in Charlote, NC area and when I told him about what Pensacola was planning he was really impressed. He said the reception by every one has been very good with excellent turn outs in all areas. I told him to watch out for semi trucks .LOL. Anybody seen them yet?? Shaggy? Mario?
