Was walking through the carpark at the Hsopital I work at and this little old lady ( 70 in the shade) got out of her beetle she had just parked.. Says I, thats a 68 isnt it? probably best beetle they made. She then tells me she agreed because of the ball joint front end, was originally a auto with CV joints, had crankcase from 1600 but only 1500 barrels, bigger windows. What a ripper, chatted for 1/2 hour before she tottled off. And it was payday as well!!!. Was nearly going to ask her to let me know when she needed to get rid of it but didnt, could have misinterpreted things seeing she was going into hospital!. John

Good thought about not asking her right then. I am recovering from five operations (four re-dos and a heart thing) and took a taxi to the hospital because I didn't want to leave the Bug outside for so long. Kinda messes with a guy's head.
Anywho, I resemble that remark. I was walking down the street Monday and came a cross an auto-glass installer replacing a windshield. Asked him if he's do the windshield on one of my Bugs and learned that he's got a
67 Bug with 24,000 original miles. It was his grandfather's and is parked in his basement garage. He thought I was pretty hip for an olde pharte.And I am!
Good to hear you are on the mend. I have a bit to do with heart things, pacemakers etc. It was just so unusual to hear those comments from a lady and 70 yo old that. We have a extensive forest bordering home and there is an old "hermit" with a Fastback that comes into town about once a year from the depths of the scrub. Covered in flowers ( stick on ones) , original hippy. Very straight, nice car, in Aust most Fastbacks and Notches seem to have been owned by young !@#$%,s who thrashed the things to death. Fair few good Squarebacks as they seemed to be owned by boring olde pharts , also like me. John
