.................If you still have the old oil filter, you might think about cutting it open with some tin shears (if you use that stupid frigging dremel, it'll make metal bits that will mess up your examination of the filter's contents). Wash away the oil & sludge with kerosene in a clean shallow pan and take a look at what was in that filter. If you see anything that looks metallic, a good magnet will help you identify whether or not it's bearing material which is always helpful when trying to decide whether it's time to trade up to an ACVW.
