Tom,.................The Shift rod is bent from the factory. It helps with Celarance of all the lines and tubes in the tunnel.


Also noticed you are considering the "quick shift" kit.



Easy to install,................If that's what you're looking for.



Pretty Self explanatory if oyu have a thimble full of mechanical know how.

It needs to be bent like that. The bend is there to clear some parts of the handbrake assembly inside the tunnel.

It *is* super easy, AND well worth it. But you do need to make sure your rod bushing and coupler are in good shape first. Which you have done. Go for it, you will never go back. Take your time with shifter adjustment, it may take some time to get it just right.

The quick shift kit will make your shift pattern a lot smaller. I installed one a while back along with the shift bushing and before all the work my shift pattern was almost a foot of travel from left to right and forward to back. Now, my shift pattern is less than six inches travel and is very crisp. I would highly recommend the quick shift kit and it is super easy to install. Like others have said, spend time adjusting the alignment of the shifter and you will have no problems later.
