Starting about tomorrow afternoon, my wife and I will be driving to Gulfport, Mississippi to do some Katrina relief work. She will be painting, spackling and doing some psychological counseling, I will be doing plumbing, electrical and some roofing work, I am told in a 100 year-old shotgun house still in the same family as built it... or what's left of that house.
We will be in an area where FEMA has yet to reach, where many of the local roads are still passable only by trucks and high-ground- clearance vehicles (minimum 8" per our coordinators).
We will be taking the VW camper... local accommodations are severely limited, the rest of the group will be in single-sex barracks, air- mattresses on the floor.
Wish us well.
