2003 Soft Top on a 2004 Wrangler?

Question

Hey -

I've got a new 2004 Wrangler I bought a few months back. I got it with the hard top, which I'm definitely pleased with, living in what has turned out to be a very snowy, frigid Northeast winter. However, this spring I'm going to want to be able to put the top down, so I need to get a soft top.

I've looked around at several sites, including Quadratec, Jeeps Are Us, and Mopar, and nobody seems to have anything for the 2004s yet.

Does anyone know if a 2003 soft top will fit a 2004 model Wrangler? Barring that, does anyone know about what time current-year parts become available for Jeeps? I'd rather not wait until June or July before I can switch tops.

I think they are the same but if you go to the Mopar site all the parts theylist under accessories are for current year models

Matt - I want to say if you order the whole top as a unit you would be OK just don't mix & match. Best to call whatever company you decide to go with & talk to the customer service to make sure their tops are good for your year.

As far as I know, they are unchanged for '04. I'd call/email Bestop directly for a confirmation. They are great about answering such questions. Also, I'd HIGHLY recommend the Sailcloth soft top! You might never put your HT on again.Matt wrote:

So you would recommend the Bestop Sailcloth RAT? Do you have one (I'm assuming you do based on your recommendation), and if so, how would you compare it to the OEM soft top? It's certainly cheaper (which I like!), but are there any drawbacks worth mentioning?

Hey Matt,Bestop makes the tops for Mopar, so you are effectively getting an OEM top. The newer Wranglers come with the Sailcloth tops (made by Bestop) and are much more quiet than the predecessors. I don't know of any drawbacks to buying directly from Bestop. I've purchased the window sets and they are a direct replacement for the factory tops, as well as the two piece soft doors.Matt wrote:news:...

I am wondering why Best top Does not sell the Tinted Window Kit for 2004'syet, They told me that, but you can get them from Mopar. Do they make thewindows also?

Yes, I believe they have a separate production line/facility just for DC's stuff. I don't know if they are under contract to wait a bit, or what the deal is, but often they offer the products directly to the public after a short wait. I would definitely wait for the windows from Bestop. The price difference is about $140 vs. $600 for a set of 3 windows.
