Body lift - choices choices choices

Hi All,

I have seen three types of "pucks", aluminium, rubber and polyurethane. I know polys would be hard and will also transfer vibrations. Aluminium ones (Teraflex and Rusty's) seem nice and cheap, but could mixing of two metals (aluminium and body/frame) cause rusting? Any pros or cons of each type would be appreciated.

Thanks TW

Spacers that retain the factory rubber body mounts don't transmit any more vibration into the cab than the factory mounts without the spacers do. I would just install the most commonly installed body lift that is made by Performance Accessories (probably also the least expensive too) and be done with it. Those body lifts from Daystar that replace the rubber body mounts are a waste of money IMHO... and they do transmit more vibration into the cab. Daystar's aiming at those who don't know their rubber body mounts generally outlast the Jeep and erroneously think replacing them is some kind of an upgrade... it isn't. :)

Great, thanks. Problem solved. What a quick way to make decisions.

Can't say I notice any more vibes with my Daystar poly body mounts than with the stock rubber ones. I choose the lift because I felt the poly mounts would be more solid - I didn't like the idea of stacking things on top of squishy rubber mounts. You know, all the reasons you (and others) give for >

1" body lifts being bad ...

Thanks, I have ordered 1" lift and yes I do have A/C. I am not a big fan of body lifts, but they do allow tucking transfer case and gas tank higher up by using belly up skid plates and such. I finally decided there were more advantages in 1" lift than disadvantages. I am also lifting the engine 1" with riser mounts, so I think A/C would not be a problem. I just ordered regular pucks from Quadratec.com (they ship internationally and I am in New Zealand).

Thanks for that. I have ordered 1" regular ones from Quadratec.com. Its a cheap enough mod, if I don't like them I can change them again. But I am not going any higher than 1" body lift.
