I have a 2002 TD5 Defender, 5 speed manual. I have extended both axle breathers up into the snorkel. I was wondering if the gearbox and transfer box have breathers that I should extend? I have had a quick look and could not find them. Where are they located? Is there anything else I should do to prepare the vehicle for crossing water?

Most of the Landies I have seen they tend to come up in the middle of the engine firewall. No certain about the TD5 though.

is there still a wading plug on a td5?
You'll need to relocate your black boxes or waterproof them in situ. It might also be an idea to add a breather for the timing chest, to prevent water being sucked in through the seals when it cools.
