Bora difficult to start

Jul 21, 2006 2 Replies

My wife's 1.6 petrol VW Bora (51 plate) has become difficult to start. Sometimes it's fine but increasing if it doesn't catch first time then it won't start at all and has to be left for 3 mins or so before having another go. Changing the plugs as part of a recent service made no difference. The mechanic who did the service said there were no fault codes. Any suggestions or is a trip to the main dealer on the cards. Thanks in advance.

Maybe the coil pack failing, if so these are covered under a lifetime warranty with VW.

Yebbut their individual coils on this application.

Could still be one though thats spiking the ECU with HT causing it to shut down momentarily. Electrical system is under the most strain during cranking and this is when a failing unit will initially begin showing problems..
