Newbie with a Passat

Just got a Passat 1.9 TDi. Would like some help and information if anyone can help.

Does anyone know of any good dedicated VW or Passat forums?

Does anyone on here have any specialist knowledge in this area?

Does anyone know of any good independent VW specialists in the Barnsley

- Wakefield area?

I have some niggling faults I would like to sort out if anyone can help.

I would like to now how to remove the radio, CD, AC unit. I have a jammed rear door that will not open under circumstances, is there a way to get into the door with it locked closed. How would a VW technician do this? My head light beam adjuster does not work? Is this a common fault?

Are all these best left to a professional?

I had a feeling a door handle would be one of your niggling faults. Those and electric windows are why I'll never buy another bloody Passat.

I managed to unjam a rear door on mine by disengaging the child lock with a screwdriver from the inside of the car. Outer handle had stopped working and a certain dozy individual decided to put on the child lock. Have a look at how the opposite one works, then have a fiddle. It won't do the paintwork much good, but after half an hour's swearing at it, you probably won't care anyway. Then once you've got it open, the outer handle can be removed easily by undoing the cross headed screw that'll be visible. You'll then see how VW's s**te design relies on one little pivot pin and some dodgy plastic to operate the door mechanism.
