Peugeot 406 diesel in economy mode - won't start

Hi,

First time on here. I have a 2002 406 HDI, that went to the local mechanic for a minor problem (engine cover came loose & broke bleed nipple on thermostat cover = no coolant). After fixing it, bleeding the system & running the engine, he let it cool down for a while. When he went to restart it, the car had gone in to economy mode, the engine turns over, but does not fire, windows, etc do not work. The ECU is not giving out any error code, disconnecting the battery, clears it for a few seconds and then it returns. Checked all fuses, earthing points etc. Does anyone have any ideas? SWMBO is going ape.

Cheers

charge (or replace) the battery (disconnected) then try to start it. If the engine overheated then anything is possible

Didn't get to the stage of over heating, but will try a battery re- charge or replacement.
