Dan405 ( snipped-for-privacy@privacy.net) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying :

Being a student i must protest this, as beans on toast have kept me going for 3 weeks now.

And yet the government isn't going to up the duty on CNG (methane) for now, but will on LPG (propane) for environmental reasons.

Ludicrous.

Amen to that. The only real use for beans of anykind is as an ingredient in a good beef chili.

Actually cows cause termites! Odd as it seems farming changes to more grazing in many areas mean that there are more termites (obviously not round here).

propane is also a "nasty greenhouse gas".

For strategic reasons it might be useful to get cars running on CNG. The tax break for LPG was no doubt to encourage the developments.

A pound of pigs liver probabley costs about the same as a decent brand tin of beans. And will feed you about 6 meals.

I dunno how to cook that - and my beans are 7p a can or something :)

Feeding yourself on rice generates loads of methane at the production stage.

I got on a bus the other day because I'd left my car at a mate's house. It was filthy, stank of piss, and uncomfortable. I'd rather walk any distance...

LOL, a stoned student, now there is a first.

Ahh. Liver has 10x the taste of beef.

Now, beef = 10x beans. This is good.

liver=10x beef. This is _bad_. Too much taste. Just like sprouts & califlower.

You've got to get the balance right. Not too much taste, not too litte.

Pete.

Okay, now it makes more sense to me.

As you drive, it's 3.1 miles, as measured using Autoroute.

It's 2.5 miles as you walk.

/oh the shame of it!/

And I certainly would not diegn to do so :)

No, I'd take my car.

I entered the thread at a late stage, I assumed that it was being insinuating that - if it was a short journey - the bus was a better choice.

Time.

After a few occasions I learnt, I choose to bike instead. Even at 5am on freezing cold mornings it's still a far more pleasant experience.

Amen :)

It is possible to take the train to work, I've used them a fair bit and for the most part they are ok. However they are nowhere near reliable enough and my particular one only stops at the station I need every hour (despite the trains going past every half hour, the middle one doesn't bother to stop). It's never on time and quite often cancelled (at which point waiting for the next one is no good, because it won't stop at the desired station). Plus they don't run at the times I need (before 6am and after 10pm).

Took the train to Nottingham the other week whilst I had a new radiator fitted. Absolutely hideous on the way back, the 5.45pm train didn't arrive until about 7pm, and even then it came to the wrong platform so there were crowds of people running up stairs, over the platforms, down stairs, etc (which was actually quite funny in an 'Airplane' sort of way

- "your plane is now departing from runway 4". "runway 5". "runway 6". etc, etc.). It was full of drunk football fans spilling beer every where, there was no room to move, all the seats were taken and the aisles crammed to bursting point.
