My car is Goosed.

Mongoosed that is. Racetech came through with the delivery real quickly. Had a look underneath it through the week.

Decided to have a local Welder/Sprayer/mechanic have a bash at it.

Took me, him, and one of his mates about 3 hours to do, on the lifts.

Had to cut the exhaust pipe arround the flange on the back and mid=20 boxes.

Snapped one stud on the cat end, and another screwed out, so he=20 rescrewed the removed one, and stick a bolt in to replace the broken one=20 (coming out soon anyway for a JJ-Jap decat).

Car sounds deeper, but actually quieter. Can hear all the other squeaks,=20 grumbles and rattles in the cockpit and engine bay now (although when=20 you lft the bonnet they stop damn). I knew that something was blowing=20 toward the front. Seems like the flexi had gone, as part of the heat=20 shielding in front of it had also rusted away, and when I lifted it=20 down, there was Soot on my hands, even though I hadn't been near the=20 open end.

Took about 40 minutes with Mole grips and oxy to get the old broken stud=20 out.

Not bad really. =A3300 for the system, =A315, and =A350 fitting.=20 Sounds nice but now I need to find where it rattles. It doesn't seem to=20 be touching anywhere though.

It isn't touching anywhere, thats the thing, checked all that first, before we finally lowered it, had it running to check none of the joints were blowing.

The rattle is a resonant buzz between 2.5 and 3k revs. That was there before, but adjusting the clutch pedal sorted that, as there was a load of pedal play.

Might need to get under the dash and see what is doing it.

But it feels nice now, lot smoother.

Been out for a test drive without the radio on. Seems that the buzzing is from the ashtray. Ashtray in, resonance arround 2k rpm and 3k rpm Ashtray pulled outward, buzzing only at 3k rpm. No ashtray, no bussing at all. Looks like the spring clip that hold it in place is causing the buzzing resonance.

They are mate. And with engines buildable upto 2.3 litres, with twin turbos and laughing gas, they are a giggle if not a handful.

Even the IRS models are just swing axle so you get some really funny steering with big engines, loads of grunt and loads of oversteer.

Gonna have to goose my SX real soon. The back box lost it's heat shield years ago. The front support for the cat got lost during a clutch change - it just fell off on undoing the nuts that held it's rubber mount on the gear box, all that's left are two studs on the gearbox. The support in front of the back box is a welded bracket and jubilee clip. The middle box lost it's outer wapper last weekend. All in all not bad as it may be the original system - I thought it was going to need replacing 5 years ago.

Full turbo back system. MOT doesn't need a CAT on hatchback 200SX even at K reg as it's not listed in the MOT emissions test list so they get tested to old low idle standard only.

have one for the 200SX

My =A390 delivered decat arrived this morning. All shiney, stainless, with= =20 new bolts and gasket. Just need to sort out the fitting.

Then the exhaust will be totally stainless all the way through.
