OT: Tax

Conor didn't mention the church (I think...), I brought it up as an example of past social responsibility that is on the decline. I am not advocating a return to church based charity, more a return of the idea of families taking responsibility for themselves as much as possible.

To be honest, saving for one's future is something the Govt really should encourage. It saves tax burden in the future as the working population won't have to support the retired population. Add to that the wonders of compound interest, and you'll begin to see that taxing pensions is a *very* bad idea.

OTOH Labour don't seem to be at all interested in any kind of planning for the future, hence the massive national debt after 10 years of economic growth...
