The Evil Dr. Diesel may have a point

Then so is turbo petrol compared to naturally aspirated diesel!!! Stupid comment.

But if you compare turbo petrol to TD, you lose half of your arguments, like low servicing, more reliability etc, and the average economy becomes utter crap.

Of course there is ! And in such a performance comparison, the Turbo Petrol would absolutely *annihilate* the NA Diesel. But the Diesel would be more economical.

Why ?

Just because things are different, doesn't mean you can't compare them.

Was it unreasonable for me to compare my current car with my old car, when I made the change, just because my current car is 3.0 V6 24v Petrol powered, and my old car was 2.0 16v Turbo Petrol powered ? Of course not.

Erm, yes. I didn't say otherwise !

The point was, that you can't do like-for-like with this Alfa lump, because it doesn't exist. But so what ? You don't *need* to do like-for-like anyway. So what if the Diesel engine is bigger capacity - it'll still be more economical !
