I have a '66 convertible with a 200ci. I would like to drop in a 289 eventually, but time and money are very rare commodoties, as many of you probably know. I want to keep the 200ci for now, just so I can drive the car. Hell, that's why we bought them right? It's a little on the under-powered side so to speak. Does anyone know of some simple (and cost manageable) performance increases? I'm not talking about having it bored to 300ci with a 750cfm carb and NOS so I can tear up the pavement. I just want to be able to cruise down the interstate and be able to pass that car going 55mph without too much trouble. It's all stock, not original, but stock. The carb, I don't know. It came with the car. It's not the best I've ever had, but it pumps gas into the engine. It has a 3sp Auto C4 trans. The car will throw you into the back of your seat at take off, but after that I feel like I'm in a Civic. The torque is amazing for the engine, but the horsepower is nothing to be proud of. Anyone have some ideas for me besides getting a 289, 302, or 351W?

These are the guys to talk to about inline 6 power!!
I'm using the Clifford header and a Crane cam in my 250. Runs great, almost as strong as a smog dog 302.
The required port work for the header would be difficult with the engine still in the car. Mine was on the bench when I did it.
Note: the header burned though at about 80.000 miles, now has a mud patch on it.
