If the return is 5/16" you could probably bend the old supply line out of the way in the rear and reuse it as the return. then clip a 3/8" line to it with some of those nylon screw together clamps. I'm still learning some of this R-series stuff :)

It does look like all the important bits are there. I could find a home for some of that stuff, but can't justify spending any more car $$$...

nope, but I will be going down that road soon. Does this bear any resemblance to the "how do you make a '56 Golden Hawk fuel sender when you don't have one at all" procedure?

Well, for 7K I could buy a project Avanti (the whole car) and get a lot more in the way of parts. My offer stands at 3K.

Have you seen a project supercharged 4 speed Avanti 4 speed for 7K recently. I may never be able to sell you R2 stuff, nor do I have to worry about you beating me to a deal. Not trying to pick on you, but you we shop on different planets apparently.
The only reason I mentioned the 5/16" return is that on my old Avanti, it was rusted out so I just simply blocked it off. Never had a problem in over eighteen years of ownership...
