Losing control of the fuel efficiency debate

That's a good idea. I tried it once when my previous car, a Taurus, broke down while towing the boat. What I found out was that no rental company in NY will allow you to tow anything with their vehicles unless they provide the trailer. Not even U-Haul. The only way you can tow is if they provide the "trailer", or the dolly for hauling a car.

It's a bad idea in terms of fuel use for me, though. I work at home. Unless I'm towing the boat any distance, I put very few miles on the truck. If I rented, I'd be using the same amount of fuel (or more) in a similar rented vehicle.

Duh. 47%. Even Scott might be able to find someone to operate a pocket calculator and get him that answer.

The BMW cost more than any SUV, Chucko.

Why would anybody rent a car instead of a truck to pull a boat?

Depends on which SUV and BMW, but you said that was you spouses car, you are slepping around is old stuff yourself

Excuse me? Car, truck, what the f*ck is the difference? Every agency I called (and I called them all) said the same thing: In NY, they can't allow you to tow with their vehicle. It wouldn't have mattered if they rented me a car or a truck. NO TOWING.

So? Why buy a car if you're happy with the one you have?

Oh...here's why: You have a little tiny pee-pee, and buying a new car every year or two makes you feel BIG.

Now we're cookin'! The point is that you can get 47% better gas mileage WITHOUT having to buy a compact car whose fate in an accident you have doubts about.

Is 47% anything to shake a stick at?

Try calling one with of the trucks that have hitches on the rear, WBMA

I know you're stupid, but I know you're not blind.

YOU CAN'T RENT ANYTHING IN NY STATE FOR TOWING UNLESS THE RENTAL AGENCY PROVIDES THE THING YOU ARE TOWING.

Period. End of story. The only exceptions are for large commercial equipment like diesel trucks that will haul actual truck trailers, as in "18 wheelers". They and other commercial uses are exceptions because of the different class of insurance involved.

And no, you can't buy special insurance to tow with a mini-van from Hertz, Avis, U-Haul etc.

Now, shut the f*ck up.

I still have a bunch of old cars that I was 'happy with' from a 41 to a

2005, but I still buy new cars. What make you think us black guys have pee pees?

Reply to
Mike hunt

Heh. You said it. Not me.

Try crossing over into PA if that's the case

Only you white boys can call what you have a pee pee

Reply to

Yeah that would work, driving 3 hours to PA to rent a vehicle, in order to save money.

How many lead paint chips did your mother feed you when you were a kid? Were they sprinkled on your cereal every day?

Her BMW cost more than any POS made by Ford, Mike. And I use my truck to get to work, haul my bicycles, and home stuff.

It gets beaten constantly, and I don't care. Get it?

Probably not.

I'd rather drive my little truck than a minivan. Any day.

Have you ever noticed the driving "skills" of those who drive minivans, Cadillacs, Volvos, or Cockroaches?

And that is the same for everyone, everywhere. Got it.

Not at all. But you said "you" can get 47%...
