Losing control of the fuel efficiency debate

You've tried this nonsense at least a dozen times in the past, in similar discussions. It doesn't work now, and it never did. Give it up already, you senile old slug.

I asked you what vehicles witfal owns because you said he could not afford a bigger vehicle. Without your knowing what he owns, your statement is vapor. I won't tell you (yet) what I own because you're incapable of staying focused, so the information would merely serve as a distraction and cause more clutter in this discussion. I'm in no mood for your clutter.

What vehicles does witfal own?

No. I'm referring to Americans recycling metal and other materials, putting up with shortages of coffee, and establishing victory gardens. Things you've never heard of, in other words.

The difference being a time of war. While I see your analogy, it's still apples and oranges.

Here's my question for you: Have you really investigated just how much fuel we'd save if every person driving a car or truck who really doesn't need the larger sizes would convert to an econo-box or hybrid?

You'll be surprised with what Google will reveal.

Currently:

A 1995 Toyota truck with 120K on the odo. A 1998 Camry with 201K. A

2005 BMW 330CiC with 16K.

I sold my big Chevy and Triton bass boat a couple of years back to buy the BMW for my wife. She deserves the indulgence.

I haven't investigated that because "econo box or hybrid" represents an extreme solution that's only suggested by silly people in newsgroups who are more interested in "winning" than they are in sharing new information. Obviously, someone with 4 kids and a load of groceries isn't going to be interested in a VW beetle. But, let's look at another idea:

Vehicle 1, an SUV, gets 17 mpg on the highway.

Vehicle 2, a minivan, gets 25 mpg on the highway.

Expressed as a percentage, how much of an improvement is gained by driving vehicle #2?

Apparently you can't afford an SUV either

We can see why you jealous of the folks that can afford a new SUV

I own a 2002 Tacoma Double Cab 6-cyl 4WD. MSRP was around $26,000.00, if I recall correctly. Do you have any other stupid comments to add to this discussion, or will there be more?

Really? I was born in 1926 and served in the Navy in WWII

Fabulous! In that case, you can either stop pretending not to understand what's being discussed here, or you can shut the f*ck up.

That may be you opinion but if buyers wanted smaller, less safe, cars they would be buying small cars, but they are not. Toyotas best selling car in not one of their small cars it is their mid size car. The majority of Toyotas sales increases over the past five to ten years has not been in small car but rather in larger cars, SUVs and trucks. Even the cars like the Corolla and the Camry are much bigger than five to ten years. Even Toyota knows their customers do not want small cars. What makes you believe you know more than Toyotas marking people?

What makes you believe that makes a difference in the real world? If a buyer wanted to buy a minivan rather than the SUV they bought, why do you think they bought the SUV? You opion is just that, your opinion.

Sorry to get all mathy here, but expressed as a percentage, how much of an improvement is gained by driving vehicle #2?

Got a pet hamster or goldfish? Ask it for help with the math.

Gee why didn't you buy a minivan and save money on fuel like you suggest to others

Reply to
Mike hunt

Because I tow a boat about 50 times a year and after 3 months of research, I found no other type of vehicle would do the job correctly and safely.

What is more 'government control' than interning some of its citizens

Reply to
Mike hunt

Was FDR exerting "control" by asking people to recycle metal and grow some of their own food? If you say yes, be prepared to show us the law which enforced this "control".

For a guy who keep refing to fuel ecaonomy is the only reason one buys a vehcle one migh think you would own an econobox and rent a truck as needed

Reply to
